Mission Statement

The mission of DCMHMRC is to promote, strengthen, and restore healthy marriages and relationships through education, training and research

On Sunday, March 22, 2009, over 100 people gathered in Northwest DC to celebrate the induction of seven couples into the Family First DC 2009 Black Marriage Day Hall of Fame.  This event is a heart-felt effort to recognize, and awaken in others, the importance and significance of marriage in the African-American community.  We honored, in perpetuity, those couples who have led by example, holding together their marriages for decades, and whose enduring bond inspires us.
