 About DCMHMRC

In June 2005, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services ACF Division pulled interested parties together from Baltimore, Maryland and the District of Columbia to promote coalition building around the new African American Healthy Marriage Initiative (AAHMI).  Later in June, the DC Metropolitan Healthy Marriage and Relationships Coalition (DCHMRC) was formed and "hit the ground running" as a close group of concerned people representing various groups, organizations and individuals.  In its first year, through a partnership with the Federal government and the National Center for Fathering, the Together is Better campaign was launched. The DC Coalition believes that marriage enriches children’s lives, strengthens families, and guides community.  It is a service-delivery network of community and faith-based organizations as well as agencies that provide programs and services to children, youth and adults living in the District of Columbia.  Through network referrals, residents can access an array of resources from marriage enrichment and relationship building and parenting to financial planning, job readiness/employment assistance, responsible fathering, youth abstinence and other supportive programs. The Coalition meets quarterly on a Monday  from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Call us at (202) 547-1090.
